Discussion passionée avec Jon Husband de Qumana depuis deux semaines sur les concepts de folksonomy et son intégration possible dans des puissants outils de d’édition et de création. Nos échanges portaient principalement sur le texte publié par Adam Mathes: Folksonomies – Cooperative Classification and Communication Through Shared Metadata.

Toutefois, l’annonce de cette synergie entre Technorati, Del.ici.ous et Flickr avec la création de Technorati Tags et surtout, l’article de David Weinberger semblent précipiter les projets de développement de Quamana, cet outil sur lequel j’ai attiré votre attention récemment.

There has been a great deal of intense activity in this area in the last two weeks, and this post today from David Weinberger underscores this issue in a serious, high-value way. Technorati has introduced yesterday the ability to tag and search and then present individual tagged blog posts, according to the tags. This is also one of the core value propositions of Flickr and del.icio.us. As he says, “this is way way cool”, and all of a sudden introduces large and important possibilities into the probable continued spread of blogging.

Puisque Jon et son équipe ont fait leur “coming-out” sur le développement futur de Qumana, je vous invite donc à lire leurs commentaires à ce propos:

We have been working on developing Qumana, which is an easy-to-use and versatile blog-post assembly and authoring tool. One of it’s core features is the ability to easily tag blog pots with both structured metadata (controlled vocabularies) and user-defined metadata (subjective tags).

The ultimate capability we want to create would result in Qumana becoming what we have termed a “relationship engine for keeping people posted”. Using Qumana to build and then tag, and then publish richly-tagged blog posts will facilitate connecting people through connecting ideas, and we believe it will be highly useful in purpose-driven social networks focused on an area of professional or personal interest – we are calling them Wired Tribes.

En attendant que ces fonctionnalités soient intégrées à Quamana (et à espérer une version multiplateforme), je me questionnais quant au moyen de pouvoir malgré tout débuter à inclure des métadonnées à mes billets dans WordPress, l’outll de publication que j’utilise. Quelques recherches m’ont permet de trouver une rustine permettant de modifier WordPress afin qu’il ajoute un nouveau champs faisant des catégories des balises.
Mise à jour: Et le voilà le module d’extension pour WP.

Penser à présenter Jon à Aaron qui bosse depuis peu chez Flickr. Comme les deux seront en ville cette semaine, en profiter pour organiser un petit café rencontre entre Jon et Sébastien.
